Our Parks and Marina
Our community has two parks: the Section 1 Park (includes the marina) and Section 2 Park. All members of our community have access to both.
Section 1 Park and Marina
Our main park (approximately 15 acres) is located on Lake Travis and provides all of our residents with private, direct access to the marina and the lake. It can be reached by going down to the cul-de-sac on Forest Cove, at the east end of Section 1.
ENTRY INTO THE PARK
Vehicle entry to the park is via a remote controlled gate.
If you are new to our community and need a remote control for the gate, please reach out to our Park Coordinator.
If you are an existing resident and have lost your clicker and/or don't have the latest pass code configured into it, please reach out to our Park Coordinator for assistance.
Pedestrians can enter the park via the walk-through located on the right side of the main gate.
PARK FACILITIES/RESOURCES
The park includes a pavilion, picnic tables, BBQ stands, a gazebo, a children's play area (see below for details), a basketball hoop, a mini-library, a porto-potty and large dumpster, woodland, an open meadow which is great for tossing balls for the dogs, two wet marinas and one large parking area (dry slip) for land storage of your boat/trailer. The wood chipped pathways and trails are not open to motorized vehicles, boats or golf carts - they are for foot traffic only.
THE DUMPSTERS
The dumpsters are for use by all residents. Make sure you are following the rules regarding the use of the dumpsters - they are posted on a sign mounted to the fence surrounding the dumpster. Security Cameras are installed at the dumpster area.
RECREATION FACILITIES FOR CHILDREN
We have a children's play area and a basketball hoop available to use during daylight hours. For safety reasons, please make sure children under the age of 14 are always accompanied by an adult when using these resources.

THE MARINAS
We have two floating marinas (our large marina has 20 slips, our small marina has 10, for a total of 30 slips) secured with tension cables, and accessed by gangplanks. We have underwater rights out to 615ft above sea level, so the marinas can be moved further out if/when the lake level goes down, with the gangplanks being adjusted accordingly.
FEES FOR RESIDENTS WHO ARE BOAT USERS
There is no fee if you wish to use the park to launch your boat and remove/store it elsewhere.
If you wish to store your boat in the park, the 2020 fees are as follows:
-
Boat slip dues: $1,030
-
Boat slip one-time set up fee: $2,200
-
Dry slip dues: $175
-
Wet slip day rental/temporary tie off: $25/day. Great if you want to put your normally-dry docked boat in the water for the weekend, and leave it there overnight.
If you cancel your marina rental within the first four years we will give you a prorated refund based on when you cancel your contract. Contact the Treasurer if this is needed.
Fees are payable (prorated in advance) upon set up, and then will recur at the same time your HOA dues are to be paid. You will receive a bill in the mail from the Treasurer, usually sometime in the spring.
SLIP AVAILABILITY
Slips are assigned on a first come, first served basis.
WET SLIPS: We have a total of 30 wet slips divided between two floating marinas.
As of June 5, 2019 we have 22 wet slips rented and 8 wet slips available to rent (2 of which are uncovered.) Residents can go HERE to see the current wet slip assignments and availability.

ZEBRA MUSSELS MANAGEMENT
To minimize maintenance, keep your boat out of the water when not being used. When removing from the water, rinse and dry it off before towing away and storing.
Please do NOT scrape mussels off the dock structure. If you see a problem, reach out to the Dock Coordinator. Thank you.
WAITING TO TAKE PICTURE OF CEMENT RAMP AFTER MARINA MAINTENANCE IS FINISHED. WILL INSERT IT HERE.

BOAT LAUNCHING
CEMENT RAMP: Please use the cement launch ramp when the lake level is up - this is the one nearest the main gate / closer to and between the two marinas. NOTE: This ramp may be inaccessible when maintenance work is being done to the marinas. When this happens, please use the gravel ramp.
GRAVEL RAMP: When the lake level goes down the cement ramp won't have access to water anymore and there are rock hazards etc, so please use the gravel ramp located to the right of the park gazebo. It starts out as a gravel ramp and as the lake level recedes a series of cement ramps will appear. These ramps will go all the way out to 624ft lake level.
PARKING YOUR TRAILER: If there are other residents waiting to launch their boats, please be as quick as you can while being safe, and be sure to then move your empty trailer up to your dry slip, if you have one. If you do not have a dry slip, please park your trailer WELL AWAY FROM THE RAMP and ideally up on the grassy area INSIDE the main drive that circles the park. Be sure not to have any part of your vehicle or trailer obstructing the paved drive.

MARINA SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE
Please be aware of the following:
DO NOT DIVE OFF, OR SWIM AROUND/NEAR THE MARINAS. If you wish to swim in the park please do so between the gazebo and pavilion.
If you see BROKEN LIGHTS, STRUCTURAL DAMAGE or REPAIRS NEEDED to the marinas or gangplanks, please notify the marina coordinator immediately: marina.woodsoflaketravis@gmail.com
SPIDERS are attracted to the lights on the marinas and build webs on the marina structure. Please use the brooms provided to brush the webs off when you see them.

PARTIES IN THE PARK
If you wish to have a party in the park that includes others beyond family members who reside in your home, you must receive permission from the Park Coordinator.
> 25 people: you will need to sign a liability release and rent an additional porto-potty (at your expense).
<25 people: permission only.
A minimum of 2 weeks notice is required.
For complete details of all park rules, please refer to the Park Rules document HERE.
PARK CARE AND MAINTENANCE
General care and maintenance of the park is done by us, the residents of the community. Please clean up after yourself and your dog(s), put dog poop and trash in the provided receptacles and report any concerns to the park coordinator.
We organize work parties a few times a year and you will be invited to help us with a variety of tasks/projects. Residents that participate will receive a $50 credit on their annual HOA fee. Check this website and our calendar for dates/information, and/or wait for our email announcement and other communications.
Major park/marina projects have to be planned and approved by the HOA Board, and are funded by our HOA fees. We'll keep you informed via this page when these come up. You can choose to donate your $50 refund from any Work Days you participate in to this larger fund - just let the Park Coordinator know.... and thank you!

Please respect and care for all resources (man made and natural), and abide by all the signs posted in the park. THANK YOU!

Section 2 Park
Our natural woodland park with trails (approximately 3 acres) is located in the middle of Section 2. The park is surrounded by the homes that border Trail of the Woods road and West Beach road.
There is no obvious/visible entry point to this park. To enter it, go to the property located at 17030 Trail of the Wood Road and walk down the grassy easement located on the LEFT side of the property. The shrubs will be on your right, the taller bushes/small trees bordering the next property will be on your left. About 200ft down the easement you will see a black, chain-link fence on your right - please respect the owner's properties by staying close to this fence as you walk down into the park.
The park is mostly natural woodland with a little open space, and some simple trails here and there to enable you to explore. A wide variety of upper, middle and lower story flora and fauna can be seen (trees, shrubs, wildflowers, birds, insects, small mammals etc.) The park includes a few streams and seeps during the wetter months and can be quite wet/soggy, so we recommend you wear boots or water-friendly footwear when you visit.
This park is monitored/maintained by a few volunteer neighbors. Care includes removing any trash, mowing some of the trails and clearing away any fallen branches if/when needed.

Zebra Mussel Invasion - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
As most of you know, Zebra Mussels have invaded many Central Texas lakes, including Lake Travis. These tiny, razor sharp shelled animals are NOT NATIVE and pose a danger to lake ecosystems, utilities and infrastructure. Zebra mussels were discovered in Lake Travis in June 2017. Boaters can unknowingly transport zebra mussels from lake to lake because the larvae are microscopic and easily transported in live wells or bilges without being seen.
We will use this space to provide you with the latest information on the invasion and information/guidance on how you can help minimize their damage.
1. Be sure to ALWAYS wear a firm soled shoe when walking along the shoreline, especially when the water level is down, as shells can be found on the exposed rocks.
2. Anytime you enter the water make sure you are wearing firm soled marine shoes so if/when you step on the bottom your feet are protected.
3. Anytime you remove your marine vessel (boat, stand up paddle board, jet ski etc.) from the water, with intent to move to another lake, , wash it down thoroughly to remove any possible infection. Zebra mussels are very very small in the early stages of their life cycle, so you will not be able to readily see them. Only a thorough wash down will ensure you are not taking any mussels to another body of water.
4. Be sure to also wash your shoes / boat shoes, swim suit, towels, coolers, and other items used on/in/around the lake, especially if they came in direct contact that came in contact with the water.
5. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has issued a flier for marinas/boat owners to educate boat owners and swimmers and encourages participation in sharing / presenting it to other marina patrons.
6. TPWD also offers free printed plastic signs with similar information—available for posting on dock gates at marinas on infested lakes to increase boater awareness of the need to decontaminate boats prior to movement. Anyone interested in the signs or wanting additional information on decontamination can contact aquaticinvasives@tpwd.texas.gov, or by phone at 800-792-1112 .
7. The LCRA has information about Zebra mussels, HERE.
